Islip's Madge marks 100th birthday

A music-loving resident at a care home in Islip has celebrated turning 100.
Madge Drage, who lives at Clanfield Care Home in Toll Bar Road, reached the milestone on Saturday (February 22).

Hide AdBorn in 1920 to parents Fred and Flo, Madge worked on a milking farm before going off to university.
She married Eric in 1952 at Bozeat's church and they lived together for 40 years.
She has two sons - John and Steven - and moved to Clanfield in December 2018.
Jamie McCarthy, activities co-ordinator at the care home, said: "Madge is very keen on dress-making, sewing, painting and loves music.

Hide Ad"She is most often found cleaning the house - everything has to be tidy!"
Madge celebrated her birthday at the home with a family party and said she had 'a lovely time'.
She said: "I've been very lucky. I'm not 100 through cleverness.
"I like music but the only thing I can do with an organ is clean it."
